Warning
Updating the BIOS will wipe all user configuration settings.
To save a copy of the current configuration, please follow the SPR Profile Save & Restore guide.
Please note - this is not supported on BIOS version 0215 (Initial Release) If you can not save a profile, please contact support to create a profile for you before updating your BIOS
To Update the BIOS
Via IPMI
- From the IPMI webui, navigate to "Maintenance -> BIOS OOB Update"
- Click "Choose File" and select the correct BIOS file
- Click "Upload BIOS File", and wait for the file to be uploaded to the system
- Once upload is complete, you will see "Uploaded successfully" message as above.
- You will now need to reboot the server, which will now boot to a image flashing utility and automatically start the flashing process
Please note: The system must post fully to boot to the image flashing utility. Please do not try to enter the BIOS during this period as you will interrupt the flash process.
- Once completed, the system will restart and the new BIOS will be applied
- For updates to BIOS version 9907, you will have to perform these steps a second time. Simply follow the instructions again from the beginning, ensuring you choose the same BIOS file as before.
Via Linux
- Copy "afulnx_64" script to a Linux host.
- Run the script like so:
./afulnx_64 <path-to-bios-file> /B /P /N
- Once complete, reboot the system for changes to take affect.
- For updates to BIOS version 9907, you will need an additional flag to force the update:
Ensure you choose the correct file as this command will break the BIOS if not done correctly
./afulnx_64 <path-to-bios-file> /B /P /N /RLC:F
BIOS settings will be wiped, if you need to restore a profile as mentioned at the start of this guide, please follow SPR Profile Save & Restore guide.
