Forcing PCIe Link Generation

Modified on Wed, 9 Oct at 2:20 PM

This guide applies to:
    SPR-M
    SPR-X
    3100-SM+
    3100-SX+

You may need to force a specific PCIe generation for cards to avoid training at the wrong speed.

You can do this via the BIOS.

Please see the SPR PCIe Layout Guide for slot numbering details.

  • Enter the BIOS by pressing "F2" during boot
  • Navigate to "Socket Config -> IIO Configuration -> Socket 0 Configuration"
  • Highlight the "Link Speed = [Auto]" for your desired PCIe port
  • Change the value to the desired Gen. For example "Gen 3 (8 GT/s)"
  • Save and Exit the BIOS
